Özet
İslam’ın ilk döneminde ve sonraki dönemlerde topluma yön veren Zühd düşüncesi, temelde insanın dünya ile ilişkisi üzerine kurulmaktadır. Bu çalışmada zühd kavramının ortaya çıkışı, anlamı, kapsamı ve farkllı boyutlarıyla çeşitli örnekler sunularak incelenmiştir. İlk dönem zühdün etki alanı o kadar genişlemiştir ki dine referans olan tüm davranışlar zühd olarak ifade edilmiştir. Bunun bir sebebi olarak, o dönemde zühd anlayışının oluşması ve yayılmasında Emevi iktidarının lükse düşkünlüğünün büyük bir etkisinden bahsedilebilir. Sonraki dönemlerde bu terimin anlam alanı değişmiş ve bağlamından uzaklaşmış, malı tamamen küçümseyen, fakirliği öven ve hatta münzevi bir hayatı ideal şekil olarak gösterenler gibi aşırı kabul edilebilecek manalar verilmiştir. Diğer taraftan aklî yönü ile ön plana çıkmış Mu’tezile mezhebinin bu sıfatı alma serüvenine yer verilerek, zâhid yönleri üzerinde durulmuştur. İlk Mutezilî şahsiyetlerin dini kurallara uyma hassasiyetleri, onların zâhid olarak sıfatlandırmalarına sebep olmuştur. Makalede, ilk Mutezilîlerin zâhid sıfatı ile öne çıkan bazı âlimlerinin, ahlaki yönlerinden yola çıkarak bu özellikleri zühd bağlamında değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Abstract
Zuhd has been a concept guiding society in the early period of Islam and later on. The concept is built on the individual's relationship with the world, i.e. the Qur‘anic term “dunya”. This study attempts to examine the process of formation of the zuhd concept, its meaning, and scope, including the extreme views with examples. In addition, the history of how the rationally-oriented Mu‘tazila sect, known for its rational thought, has come to be associated with zuhd. In the early period, the luxurious lifestyle of the Umayyad rulers has contributed to the formation of the zuhd concept and its spread. During the period, the influence of zuhd has spread to quite an extent and all behaviors related to the religion had been expressed as zuhd. However, in the later periods, the definition of the term has been transformed to have somewhat extreme meanings such as looking down on any property, praising poverty, and idealizing a seclusive lifestyle. The followers of Mu‘tazila have been identified as Zahids because of their sensitivity to following religious rules during the period. Does the article try to analyze the definitions of zuhd in the Quranic context using the Sufis’ sources; will focus on the first prominent Mu'tazilite scholars that stand out with their zuhd by focusing on aspects of ethics.
